Just in time for Christmas, authorities have uncovered a complex identity theft scheme used to defraud local bus companies of hundreds of colones at a time. The scheme which exploited a law guaranteeing free bus rides for senior citizens, consisted of copying the legal documents of elderly passengers then periodically scanning the counterfeit documents as paying customers boarded the bus, while later pocketing the difference.

Fortunately the identity theft victims, who’s children are always too busy to drive them anywhere, were not affected by the scam and most likely unaware that the copies of their documents even exist. Also some good news for the degenerate drivers, since this is Costa Rica after all, no one will be losing their job over this minor lapse of judgement.
Suck on that Grandpa!
